Edmodo : Facebook's More Educated Younger Brother

Edmodo : What Is It?

Edmodo is quite similar to the popular social networking site Facebook in terms of its look but, it is more geared towards a social learning environment. It allows you to connect with your learners globally any time and anywhere  provided that they have an Internet connection.  When you sign up for the site, it will ask
whether you are a teacher or a student and if you are a teacher, you can create a specific class for your group of learners. It is also a secure platform as you will need an invitation code in order to get into a particular group.

What Is Great About The Tool

  • As always, it's free
  • It allows you to connect to your learners in a secure and dedicated platform for learning
  • You can add notes, share files and video, create assignments and create quick polls
  • You can also grade your learners through this tool and give them badges or achievements so they will receive their feedback more immediately

Some Limitations

  • It lacks the ability of a dedicated chat window that enables students to chat with each other or even with the teacher
  • If you forgot your login password, you will not be able to recover them so be careful
  • Needs an Internet connection

How Can The Teacher Use It In The Class

P.S. I don't usually use videos to explain the tools in this blog but I personally think that the possibilities of this tool is immense and it deserves a more detailed look into it. So, lets look at some of the brilliant ideas that the teacher has kindly shared with us.
