Dvolver : What Is It?

If  you are running out of ideas for your language teaching classes or you just want to expand the possibilities of your classroom, DVOLVER is a great tool to make language learning more interesting. Basically, Dvolver is a site where you can create simple flash-based animations using a number of pre-made
characters, background settings, and music soundtracks. We are required to create our own dialogue or movie script and this is where Dvolver shines in language teaching.

What Is Great About Dvolver.

• It is really FUN  to use and this can help to improve the student's motivation to the actually do the task.
• It is suitable to be used across a WIDE range of students REGARDLESS of their proficiency levels
• It is very USER-FRIENDLY and SIMPLE to use. Point, Click and Presto!!!!

Some Limitations

• Needs CONSTANT connection to the internet and ICT facilities
• Needs SUPERVISION from the teachers to ensure the dialogue produced by the students is appropriate. E.G vulgar language
• Some characters in here may not be appropriate for younger learners
• Only a maximum of three scenes in a movie

How Can The Teacher Use It In Class? 

One example activity that you can use in the language classroom is DRAMATISATION. Teachers can ask the students to pair up and create a dialogue with each other and put them in the Dvolver website. After they that, they can act out the scene based on the Dvolver scene in front of the classroom. This can help to develop their CONFIDENCE in using the target language. In addition, it also helps to develop their communicative competence especially in FLUENCY.
